Travelling inland from Umtentweni towards Shelly Beach on Izotsha’s Main Road, our first stop, KC’s Coffee Shop, is set in pretty countryside surroundings with a children’s play area, and offers generous breakfasts and light lunches, all served with dependable barista-made coffee.

Uvongo has also emerged as a destination for coffee enthusiasts thanks to The Coffee Cave. Proudly independent, it has quickly established a reputation for quality espresso, tasty and filling toasted sarmies, and friendly service. Another local Uvongo favourite is Coffeekie, a tiny pavement café that has earned a loyal following thanks to its warm hospitality and consistently good coffee. (Coffiekie is the 2025 winner of the South Coast annual Battle of the Bean competition.)

Heading north towards Ramsgate, a new kid on the block is The Art Café in Ramsgate. Blending creativity with café culture, it’s a space for local artists to exhibit their work, making every visit slightly different. Further north in Southbroom, Coffee on the Square has become a gathering place for both residents and visitors. A short drive south, Berry Crafty Café in Munster has become another favourite among locals and holidaymakers alike. Finally… Beaver Creek: a pilgrimage for coffee lovers

No discussion about coffee on the South Coast is complete without a mention of Beaver Creek Coffee Estate.
At the end of our coffee journey, Beaver Creek, near Port Edward, has been recognised as the world’s southernmost coffee estate.

Experience coffee from tree to cup
Guided tours explain the growing, harvesting, drying and roasting process before guests get to sample a selection of single-origin coffees and signature blends. The estate roasts its own 100% Arabica beans, and the restaurant overlooks rolling green hills that make lingering over a flat white irresistible. It is more than a coffee stop — it’s a celebration of coffee itself.
